Young listeners who aspire to sleuthing will enjoy this second Brixton Brothers mystery. In reality, there's only one brother, Steve, but friend Dana rises admirably to the role of sidekick. When a revered mystery series writer contacts Steve for assistance, the adventure begins and subsequently moves from Ocean Park to San Francisco and back. Arte Johnson's enthusiastic narration brings listeners close to the action. He speeds along, letting the clues and excitement build, and periodically pulls back to impart pearls of wise detecting. He gives stereotypical voice to goons, Steve's mother's slimy suitor, and the school bully. Most importantly, he infuses Steve and Dana with wit, humor, and implausible goodness. A.R.
